Article 1, Section 1, Clause 1: The president and vice president are to be elected every four years by the people.
Change: They are both elected every ten years.
I infer that the Founding Fathers passed this clause because a four year term is not too short, but long enough for efficient changes to be made during the presidency. There would also be more time to correct less efficient changes. Some of the advantages to this change is that they would have even more time to get ideas for the government and their projects finished. Also, the government would save more money with less frequent elections, and the money could be put toward other causes, including less money spent for political ads. Voters would think harder about voting and more would participate, knowing that this candidate would be their leader for a decade. On the down-side, there is consequences for adding more years to the term. The president elected may make changes that severely effect the economy, and the country would be stuck with him for ten years. This would give a non-worthy president power for too long, which could cause a tyranny. There are many examples of positive and negative effects in our society today. When Steve Jobs was fired from the Apple company, their business plummeted. At this, Jobs was hired again and Apple became a very successful business again, producing much more advanced technology. Another example is Saddam Hussein, the fifth president of Iraq, turned out to be a dictator and a tyrant. Thinking government, if we keep Obama in power, it could lead to change in the Constitution. When teachers loop, it means that when a student moves up a grade, the teacher moves up with them. This means that the teacher would know her students well and their strong learning methods. If the teacher is not suited, this will not be well for the student.
